Posada is an old Mexican tradition in which young people dressed as Mary and Joseph travelled from house to house asking for a room for the night and telling people about the imminent arrival of Jesus in the weeks leading up to Christmas. On Christmas Eve they would visit the local churct to re-enact the nativiity and place figures of Mary and Joseph in a crib.

Modern day Posada uses nativity figures of Mary and Joseph who trave lfrom house to house. This gives each ‘host’ the chance to create thier own celebration, worshipping in thier home and giving the real message of Christmas; making room for Jesus in thier lives.

So, if you would like to get involved tihs year, sign up on the list which is pinned up on the noticeboard at the back of church. Choose a day to receive the nativity figures, remembering that on the following day you will have to take it to the next family. On the evening you receive the figures, you can read the prayers supplied, play music, sing and, of course, light our advent candle!
