The Connect Youth Event continues to meet via ZOOM. Please share this link with anyone you think may be interested – more information can be found here
Connect is a youth event for anyone in Year 6 to Year 13 which aims to connect young people with God and each other. We are now in our fourth year! Yay! Over the last 4 years we have seen an increase in the number of young people and churches coming to the event which is just amazing. Praise God! The current lockdown has not stopped us connecting with each other. We know that meeting on Zoom is not for everyone but we would love for you to give it a try. Evidence shows that we are more likely to laugh when we are with others and we definitely need some laughter in our lives right now so give it a go – laughter is a promise!
When we are able to meet in person the event takes place at the Academy of St Nicholas School, Garston (next to Dunelm Mill) but for now we are meeting on Zoom and so our format has had to change a bit to adapt to being online.
The format for each event in person has been changed a bit over the years as we have listened to the young people we serve and adapted what we offer to meet their needs. Food has always been a must so we meet at 6 pm for food and some social time in the sixth form social area of the school. The food is pizza, chips, hot dogs, cake, fruit, vege’s and drinks. We can cater for any special dietary requirements if you let us know in advance! We have loads of games on the tables and a challenge activity for you to join in with if you want to.
At around 6.45 pm we head to the drama studio for some whole group games. We then have some modern sung worship, a age relevant faith based talk and then we return to the social area with the opportunity for you to join a group to chat and discuss some questions arising from the talk or for you to chat with your friends. There is also a space for you to have prayer or ask any questions to one of our leaders that might be on your mind right now.
At our last connect before the school summer holidays we have a big social. At our last summer social we had an inflatable assault course, rodeo bull, gladiator duels, BBQ, music and other fun and games.
Connect is entirely run on a voluntary basis. We try and encourage youth workers from different churches and schools to lead our sessions each time we meet. If you would like to help us out by in leading one of the sessions or you have musical gifts you would like to share in our sung worship please get in touch via our contact page.
We would love to see you at the next event!
